Hair Transplant Aftercare: The First Month

Hair Transplant Aftercare: The First Month

The first month after a hair transplant is when careful aftercare protects your result. It is straightforward, but following it properly makes a real difference, so here is what to expect week by week.

The first week

Expect some redness, mild swelling around the forehead and small crusts around the grafts. Sleep slightly propped up for the first few nights, avoid anything rubbing the area, and follow the gentle washing routine we show you. The grafts are most delicate now.

Weeks two to four

The crusts clear within about ten to fourteen days, and the transplanted hairs then begin to shed, which is completely normal and not a sign of failure. You can gradually return to normal activities, reintroducing exercise as advised, while still protecting the scalp from strong sun.
