Hair Transplant in the UK vs Turkey
The honest differences that matter: who performs your surgery, what happens if something goes wrong, and the aftercare you actually get.
Finance available on the full cost, 0% APR up to £2,000 with Klarna (subject to status)
Turkey is the best known destination for cheaper hair transplants, and for some people the price difference is real. It is worth understanding what that price does and does not include, because a hair transplant is a one-off chance to use a limited donor area well, and the result stays with you for life.
We are a UK clinic, so we have a view here, but the points below are the ones patients tell us they wish they had weighed up first: who holds the scalpel, who is accountable, and who looks after you afterwards.
Why is a hair transplant cheaper in Turkey?
Lower running costs, currency differences, and very high volume all bring the price down. Some Turkish clinics are excellent. In many high-volume operations, though, much of the procedure is carried out by technicians rather than a doctor, and the clinic you book through may not be the one that operates. The saving is genuine; the trade-off is usually oversight and aftercare.
Who actually performs the surgery?
This is the question that matters most, and it is often the hardest to get a straight answer to abroad. At Liv Hair & Skin Clinic the surgery is planned and led by our own GMC-registered surgeon, in house at 19 Harley Street. We are not a booking agent that markets the procedure and sends it elsewhere. Your hairline is designed by a doctor, and the same team is accountable for the result.
What happens if something goes wrong?
In the UK you are covered by GMC regulation and CQC oversight, and your clinician is reachable for follow-up and any concern. If a result abroad disappoints, or a complication appears weeks later, recourse and revision can be difficult once you are home. Aftercare, not just the operation, is where the UK route earns its cost.

Who is this for?
Frequently asked questions
Is it safe to get a hair transplant in Turkey?
It can be, at a reputable, doctor-led clinic. The risks come from very high-volume operations where technicians do most of the work with limited oversight, and where aftercare ends when you fly home. Research the individual clinic and, crucially, confirm who performs the surgery, not just who sells it.
Why is a UK hair transplant more expensive?
You are paying for a GMC-registered surgeon to plan and lead the procedure, CQC-regulated facilities, and genuine aftercare with follow-up. The cost reflects accountability and oversight for a permanent, one-chance procedure, rather than only the graft count.
Is the UK worth it over Turkey?
For many people, yes, because your donor hair is limited and the result is permanent. Paying more for a surgeon-led procedure, clear accountability and proper aftercare is often the better long-term value, even though the upfront price is higher. We are happy to give an honest view at a free consultation.
Do you fix or repair transplants done elsewhere?
Often, yes. We assess repair and revision cases, for example unnatural hairlines, poor density or wasted grafts from a previous procedure. Because donor hair is finite, we are careful and honest about what can realistically be improved, which we discuss at your consultation.
