Rosacea: Managing Facial Redness

Rosacea is a common, long-term skin condition that causes redness and flushing across the central face, often with visible small blood vessels and sometimes bumps. It is harmless but can be persistent and distressing, and it responds far better to a considered plan than to guesswork.

What triggers rosacea?

The exact cause is not fully understood, but flare-ups are often set off by identifiable triggers: sun, heat, alcohol, spicy food, stress and certain skincare. Learning your own triggers and protecting the skin, especially from the sun, is a large part of keeping it calm.

What can help

There is no single cure, but the redness and flare-ups can usually be managed well with the right routine and treatments tailored to your type of rosacea. Because rosacea has several forms, an accurate assessment matters before starting anything.
